Cool Car of the Month: a 1955 Nash Metropolitan

11/12/2015

We've decided to do something a little different for this month's blog: Cool Car of the Month! When this car came in last month to repair a leak in the transmission, one word kept coming to mind: Tiny. That's probably the same thing people thought when the Metropolitan first came out in the 1950's. In an era of stretch coupes, the Metropolitan is said to have started the smaller car trend. It may have also started the phrase, "tiny but mighty," because Road and Track tested the 1954 model's acceleration from 0-60 at 22.4 seconds. That's almost twice as most Volkswagens at the time. The car's performance was so impressive back then, that is was the car of choice by police departments. It was named "One of the greatest cars of all time" by former Motor Trend Magazine editor Jack Nerad. Pretty Cool, huh?

Did you know Lara & Sons was the Location Site of a Music Video?

Back in 2004, Ashlee Simpson came out with her hit song, "Boyfriend". When production started on the video, the director came and asked to shoot the video in our facility. In the video, Ashlee is trying to evade police. To escape, she drives her Mustang into the shop. Her, and the musicians in the background, could then be seen rockin' out in front our hoists. Better than your average virtual tour, ain't it?

In 1998, Chrysler Group, LLC merged with Daimler-Benz to form DaimlerChrysler. The merger produced several cars, trucks, and vans both car brands that have similar designs. Prime examples of this are the Chrylser Crossfire, and the Mercedes SLK. There's also the Dodge Sprinter, and the Mercedes Sprinter. The similarities don't stop there. -Benz also manufactured the transmissions that could be found in Chrysler's Jeep models, like the Grand Cherokee or Commander. Daimler sold off Chrysler in 2007, citing losses in sales.

When you come into Lara & Sons, you can be sure to be greeted with a smile by one of our associates. They'll ask you what type of problem you're experiencing. If you're not able to explain in detail what's going on, no biggie! We'd be happy to test drive the car with you. Based on the noises or vibrations there are on the ride along, our experts will determine what's causing the problem, and explain what needs to be done to get it fixed. In most cases, we give the worst case scenario estimate. The final price may be less, depending on what parts are damaged on the inside. Our turn around time usually ranges from about one to three days, but we'd let you know if we're going to need more time. After all that, you still have questions or concerns, let them be known. That's what customer service is all about!
